Where and how you set up a greenhouse decides how well it works. Get the position, base, and anchoring right, and your plants will thrive. Here’s a simple guide.

Choose a sunny, sheltered spot

Place your greenhouse where it gets plenty of sunlight (most plants need it), but with some shelter from the strongest winds. Avoid spots under trees that drop leaves and cast heavy shade.

Prepare a level base

Set the greenhouse on firm, level ground. An uneven base stresses the frame and cover. You can use soil, paving, or a gravel base — just make sure water drains away and doesn’t pool inside.

Assemble carefully

Follow the instructions and make sure every joint and connector is secure. A well-assembled frame is far stronger and lasts much longer than a rushed one.

Anchor it firmly

Plan for ventilation and water
